Why blood in pleural fluid does not clot?
Answer:
Hemorrhage within the pleural space generally does not clot due to 3 reasons
mechanical defibrination (movement of lungs)
activation of fibrinolytic mechanisms
Also, platelets disappears within hours following hemorrhage
